InterroBot Now Available for Linux
InterroBot desktop web crawling finally lands on Linux. Download Now
Linux support has always been a priority for InterroBot. During the cross-platform development last year, Windows/macOS/Android all had their day in the sun. Due to practical considerations, Linux took a back seat.
Today, the wait is over, today InterroBot 2.9.3 ships as a Linux package. As far as I can tell, InterroBot is now the most cross-platform capable GUI crawler/analyzer on the market.
Linux support isn't an afterthought, there are no Android APK over a Wayland bridge hacks. This is the full InterroBot experience here, built with WebkitGTK (Gnome) and complete with JavaScript rendering, MCP integration, and plugins. AppImage, .deb, and .rpm packages are available, offering broad compatibility amognst distros.
Century of the Linux Desktop
The past five years have seen a decline in the quality of macOS and Windows. This has manifested in more lock-in, surveillance, upsells, and an overall less user-centered experience. I expect Microsoft and Apple to turn things around with their OS releases; eventually, they'll have to. Until that happens, the Linux Desktop will continue its arc of adoption, from under 2% in 2020 to now past 5% in the US and growing.
Linux has long been a favorite of developers and system administrators—the exact kind of people who need quality website analysis tools. While cloud-based crawlers are great, they come with inherent limitations that Linux users understand all too well: network restrictions, privacy concerns, and recurring costs.
Desktop crawling on Linux means you can analyze localhost development servers, intranet sites behind firewalls, and staging environments that never see the public internet. Your crawl data stays local, your analysis runs on your hardware, and there's no monthly SaaS bill to justify.
Available Packages
The AppImage runs universally without installation, while .deb and .rpm packages provide proper system integration and allow for JavaScript rendered browsing. Browse all available packages, including .deb/.rpm/.appimage on the downloads page.
InterroBot Linux leverages the same foundation as the other builds. The goal is solid performance and reliability across distributions. If you are having trouble with the Linux packages, reach out via the in-app contact form under the Options page.
